Susana Weingarten Evert

Susana is a professional dancer, choreographer, designer, artist in education, movement therapist and teacher. She started her dancing career in Mexico City where she studied with  Ballet Nacional de Mexico and then danced and toured with Ballet Independiente de Mexico. She continued her dance and theater studies in New York City. Soon after, Susana and her partner, Tom Evert, former dancer with THE PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY , founded their own dance/theater company in Cleveland, OH.  The company toured nationally and internationally, appeared on national television with PBS and others, while garnering rave reviews from top newspapers and magazines. 

Susana has won many awards for choreography, film and dance including (  Ohio Arts Council, Northern Ohio Live Magazine, Kerala India Arts, International Film Fest, Near Nazareth film Fest., Mexico City International film Fest, and the list goes on). She has also collaborated with a range of theatre companies and been commissioned by museums, cultural organizations, and colleges around the world. Susana has taught internationally to all levels and ages at a variety of theatre and dance companies such as Toronto Ballet, Washington Ballet, Ecuador Modern Dance and Ballet Companies, as well as in schools from K to college.

With compassion and a sense of play, Susana continues to develop her Conscious Movement class as a synthesis of all her experience while traveling, performing and teaching, combining modern and Afro-Latin dance, QiGong («chee-gong»), yoga, somatics, meditation and massage therapies.
